U.S. cable channel HBO has announced pop superstar Beyonce is stepping behind the camera to direct a behind-the-scenes documentary about her personal and professional life.

The currently untitled film will show the Grammy-winning singer's life in the recording studio, readying for live performances and running her own TV and music production company.

HBO says the documentary will give Beyonce's fans a unique look behind the scenes of her successful career revealing a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.

The film will also feature moments in the "Single Ladies" singer's family life including first-person footage Beyonce captured on her laptop.

The 31-year-old will headline the Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans on February 3, two weeks before the documentary airs on HBO.
