Potala Palace and Jokhang Monastery are located in the 3,700-meter-high red peak in the center of the Lhasa River Valley. They are both used for administrative, religious and political affairs.

Potala Palace served as the winter palace for the Dalai Lama since the 7th century, and it represents the center of Tibetan Buddhism.

Also founded in the 7th century, the Jokhang Monastery is an exceptional Buddhist religious center. Continuing our journey of discovering the World Heritage Sites in China, today we will visit the Potala Palace and Jokhang Monastery. But before that, let's check our mailbox.

This week, we received a letter from France. Erwin van Dijk writes to us, saying: "I received your English broadcasts on shortwave radio this afternoon! Is that signal really coming from China or from some other sub-transmitter? I'm Dutch and living in France, and I was testing my emergency radio in the cellar. Great to hear something from China in English."
