Chinese Work 8.66 Hours Per Day: Survey

On average, Chinese people work 8.66 hours per day and spend 0.96 hours commuting according to a survey jointly released by Peking University and Zhaopin.com, a popular Chinese job hunting website, the New Express Daily reports.

The survey revealed that on average Chinese employees sleep for 7.33 hours per day and work for 8.66 hours; spending 8.38 hours working at their office or company and 0.28 hours working at home.

Among the 15 big Chinese cities covered by the survey, Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, ranks first with the longest daily working time of 9.02 hours. Following Guangzhou are Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang province, Shanghai, and Shenzhen of south China's Guangdong province. People in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin province have the shortest daily working time of 8.05 hours.
