As the winner of a promotional tourism event, organized by the travel segment of sina.com.cn, a well-known blogger who goes by the name of "the_air" recently embarked on an eight-day trip around Taiwan. Let's follow him through his series of updates via his personal journal.

Visitors can reside in the few hotels situated at the foot of the mountain, or in the hotels of Jiayi town, situated nearby the national park. The mountain ranges emerged in heavy mist, visible from our bus as we approached the site.

A month before our visit to Alishan Mountain, the Alishan Forest Railway, the most popular method of getting around the national park, has ceased operations due to a major accident. It takes about four hours to reach the peak of the mountain by foot, a task that is too demanding for tourists. So we have had to abandon our original plan and do some brief sightseeing at the foot of the mountain.

However, the change of plans left us with an equally wonderful memory of the area, or rather, a tasty memory to be exact.
