A night in China's tropical resort city Sanya will cost you an arm and a leg during the coming Spring Festival holiday.
Latest hotel information shows the price of a room in a five-star hotel in Sanya Bay in Hainan has rocketed to 15 thousand yuan per night, or 2,100 US dollars.
This is equivilant to a five day package tour to Japan during the peak season.
According to the information from the Hainan government, the number of rooms reserved in hotels in Sanya from February 15 to 18 has exceeded 85 percent, higher than previous years.
The price, however, is believed to be driven up by speculators who reserve the room for later sales.
The State Council announced last month it hopes to build Hainan island into a top international tourist destination by 2020. Property prices have been skyrocketing since then.
